The Champs Repeat
With a stacked roster and a great goaltender, Tampa Bay has won their second straight Stanley Cup. Congratulations to Kevin Pinto on a record-setting win, with a 17-point margin and only 14 points shy of the maximum possible score. Check out the Final Analysis for the Dream Team, the key to the pool, who was hot at the end, and more. Thanks to everyone for participating and see you next year!

The Cup is won, and we are done 7/8/2021 12:13:00 AM
The Champa Bay Lightning have won their second straight Stanley Cup with Andrei Vasilevsky getting the final shutout. Kevin Pinto has officially clinched his victory. The Tampa win settled the rest of the standings as Lucas Chua climbed into second place and Tyler Dominato rising to third to round out the money spots. Norrin Ripsman was one point shy of the money, finishing fourth, with Scott Lee fifth. Congrats to you all!

Finals over before we know it? 7/3/2021 12:47:00 AM
Tampa Bay has quickly taken a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals and suddenly we could be near the end of the pool. Tom Nicholl has quietly held on to second place as Jacob Court moved into third after game one. But both of them would be knocked out if Tampa wins, with Lucas Chua moving into second with the Tampa Cup bonus and Tyler Dominato edging Norrin Ripsman for third by one point. Norrin would need Brayden Point to get more points than Nikita Kucherov to tie or pass Tyler for third. Kevin Pinto of course will still win in a walk.

Kevin will get the win - Tampa players determine second and third 6/28/2021 1:46:00 AM
The Cup finals are here and with it the final drama of the pool. Kevin Pinto is set to win with the second and third podium spots up for grabs based on who performs on the ice. Check out the Round 3 Analysis to see the contenders, who has not (and not) in round 3, projected final scores and more. Meanwhile many of us are watching and cheering closely for the Stanley Cup to come north of the border.

Canadiens win seals leader's pool victory; 2nd and 3rd up for grabs 6/25/2021 10:02:00 AM
With the elimination of the Golden Knights, Kevin Pinto has effectively clinched the Lord Stanley's Pool title! Congratulations to Kevin on his early victory, one that looks to be by a record margin. Only a Vegas advance to the final - and possibly Cup win - would have been enough for challenger Norrin Ripsman to make up the large gap between Kevin and the rest of the pool. Norrin can still hope for his Islanders picks to help him overcome the three-point gap between himself and the podium - and Tyler Dominato has a similar but weaker shot at third if the Islanders advance that his one Islander pick could inch him up the ladder.

Vegas goes bust: last person standing on top 6/25/2021 9:51:00 AM
Vegas is out - and it seems like they were barely in to begin with given how poorly their point-producers performed in round 3. 283 picks, 52 Cup picks, are added to the heap including Mark Stone, Marc-Andre Fleury, Shea Theodore and Max Pacioretty who combined for only 8 pool points among them this series.

Canadiens in the Finals for the first time since 1993 6/25/2021 9:39:00 AM
There was celebration in the streets on Montreal as the Canadiens have advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1993 - the last time a Canadian team won the Cup. They are the first Canadian team in the finals since 2011. A Habs Cup victory would bring joy to many people in the pool even they didn't pick them. Two people who did: Paula Santin and Concordia-alum Mouli Ramani.

Tampa whitewash and shutout all but seals leader's pool win 6/22/2021 9:15:00 AM
Tampa's 8-0 drubbing of the Islanders wasn't the series clincher, but it did have an impact beyond the 10-12 points many poolies received in the standings. Kevin Pinto has increased his lead to a record 18 points, while top challenger Frank Pileggi dropped to ninth as a result of being the only one in the top ten not benefiting from Andrei Vasilevskiy's shutout. Frank can still overcome the 6-point gap needed to reach the podium but likely not the 24 needed for first. Lucas Chua and Tom Nicholl are still hanging on to the final two podium spots.

Opportunities closing for challengers to overtake Kevin 6/20/2021 3:39:00 PM
Kevin Pinto has maintained his 16-point lead as we enter the second half of round three, and more importantly, challengers from below are running out of opportunities. Frank Pileggi, up from 14th, and Tyler Dominato, from 11th, are tied for 7th only four points from the podium and five from 2nd place, but to have a chance at overtaking the leader, Frank would need a Vegas cup win. Five points further back, Norrin Ripsman - who has been on a mad climb with all nine players - also has a shot at the podium but to pass Kevin would require an Islanders-Vegas final.

Pesky underdogs continue to win 6/20/2021 10:24:00 AM
The Islanders and Canadians each have two wins as the underdogs continue to threaten the pool favourites. It wouldn't do much to add excitement to the outcome of the pool, but a Habs-Isles final would certainly have a nostalgic feel to it. Montreal won four straight Cups from '76-'79 followed immediately by the Islanders from '80-'83.

Evens after two 6/17/2021 4:16:00 AM
With Montreal's game 2 victory, both series are even at 1-1. Nikita Kucherov's four points to start the series is a highlight but it helped nearly everyone in the top 10 equally. Alex Pietrangelo's two goals for Vegas has lifted Frank Pileggi, the leading Golden Knights bettor, into the top 10. Leader Kevin Pinto, meanwhile, has increased his lead to 17 points.

Conference finals: the 2020 Redux 6/14/2021 5:33:00 AM
A rematch of the Islanders vs Tampa from last year, and Vegas facing Montreal instead of Dallas, is in store for round three. Kevin Pinto has a 16-point lead but not much room to grow. Can he hold on? See the podium contenders, who's hot and who's not, projected standings after the round, and more in our Round 2 Analysis.

Colorado collapse a pivotal moment for the pool 6/11/2021 10:34:00 AM
Whenever a favourite is knocked out in the first two rounds it hurts - and Colorado's is no different. 519 picks are now toast as only #3 Vegas (283) and #5 Tampa (242) remain among consequential teams. And what was looking like a potential cakewalk for pool leader Kevin Pinto if Boston and Colorado had advanced, is now a survival watch. Can Norrin Ripsman, the only poolie left with more than six players - he has all nine - make up a 36-point gap in two rounds? Can Tyler Dominato or Frank Pileggi make up 26 points with two or three extra players? More to come in our upcoming Round 2 analysis.
