The Unlikeliest Three-Way Tie
Out of nowhere, a barn-burner of a final game has resulted in a three-way tie to finish Lord Stanley's Pool! Laura Speciale had seven points from three Vegas players, and Vince Galante had three points from his single player to tie Marie Loop who seemed to have first place wrapped up on her own. Marie led nearly wire to wire and still retains a piece of first. Vince had tied Marie earlier in the third on Jack Eichel's third point, when Mark Stone's empty netter brought Laura in to the party. Congrats to all three winners, who share the prize money and the glory equally! See the Final Analysis for the Dream Team, key to the pool, and more praise for the winners. Thanks to everyone for participating and see you all next year!

DOWN TO THE WIRE! 6/13/2023 10:19:00 PM
After period 2 with Vegas up 6-1 and the final period ahead, Vince Galante has closed the gap to one point behind Marie Loop. Two points from Jack Eichel has Vince poised to tie Marie with a single Eichel point in the 3rd, or win with two. Not to be outdone, Laura Speciale is just one point behind Vince in third, with 5 points tonight including from Mark Stone and Alex Pietrangelo. Will Vegas pour it on more, and flip the leaderboard some more? Time's ticking!

Challengers creep up as Florida extends the series 6/9/2023 12:39:00 AM
Florida's game 3 win means the series will go to at least five, good news for all challengers. It's especially good for Vince Galante as Jack Eichel's point in the Vegas loss puts Vince tied for second with Anthony Bruno. Laura Speciale is now just six points from catching Anthony for third.

Challengers on the rise, but will there be enough games? 6/6/2023 1:12:00 AM
Hot starts to the finals are propelling Joel Borgida, David Schamma, and 2020 poll winner S Ripsman up the standings. But with Vegas dominating after two games, will we see the long series necessary for these challengers to reach the podium? Meanwhile Vince Galante has narrowed the gap to second place by one point and first by four, relying on Jack Eichel to give him a shot of catching leader Marie Loop.

Shinny anyone? 6/3/2023 8:39:00 PM
With no one in the stands and all the pros gone to play golf, we are left with a round of shinny for those who are interested. Marie Loop is cruising to a second pool victory - ten years after winning in 2013 - but it's not a total guarantee. See the contenders and their chances in the Round 3 Analysis. Good luck in the final round - to the few with any picks!

Six goals, but nothing? 5/30/2023 12:58:00 AM
Vegas scored six in game six to advance to the final, but Jack Eichel didn't manage a point. With only four in six games this series, he really needs to step it up if we want a contested final round in the pool.

A slow march to the finish line 5/19/2023 2:13:00 AM
With over half of all pool wiped out, and fewer than 12% of picks remaining, there won't be too much excitement over the final two rounds. The remianing questions: can Vince Galante get 13 points from Jack Eichel and Martin Necas to pass Marie Loop for the pool title; and can David Schamma, the only one who hasn't lost a player, make a dramatic rise. Meanwhile, check out who was hot and not in round 2, projected standings for round 3, and more in the Round 2 Analysis.

The Oil burns out 5/16/2023 11:17:00 AM
The Edmonton Oilers' elimination knocks out 748 picks - put will anyone notice? With nearly everyone picking their players, it won't have such a large impact. Dallas, with 173 picks, is the top team remaining.

Tears and opportunities 5/13/2023 11:15:00 AM
The Leafs' elimination to Florida knocks out 286 picks, 53 Cup picks, and negates the advantange that Leafs pickers had after Boston and Colorado's exits. Only one contestant - David Schamma - has more than six players remaining, with a full nine from Vegas, Florida, and Carolina, though he sits in 202nd. Laura Speciale had 8 points on Friday to break into the top ten while Vince Galante had 7 points to rise into 4th.

Ryan's big night 5/12/2023 6:01:00 AM
With a seven-point night on Thursday, Ryan Dempsey has jumped from 14th to 3rd place on the leaderboard, capping a rise from 44th at the start of the round. Unfortunately it comes with the loss of the Devils' Jack Hughes, his differentiator, so we will see if Ryan can hold on to that third-place podium spot.

Second round risers 5/9/2023 1:50:00 AM
by Mitch Laura Speciale, who along with second-place Anthony Bruno leads the pool with 24 second-round points, has risen from 55th to 7th. But Laura will lose three players. Ronald Fawnstein and Stacy Martin have jumped from 66th to 15th, hoping on Dallas and Edmonton to come through. Fraser Macdonald has jumped 85 places from 126th to 41st.

Who will survive Round 2? 5/3/2023 3:18:00 AM
With two of the top three teams out and Toronto and Dallas picks gaining leverage, we could see the real contenders emerge by the end of round 2. Meanwhile, check out the Round 1 Analysis for first round trends and the projected round 2 standings.
