ReplyWhat happened to the LEAFS?? From:
Mitch Wexler

In response to Ian's earlier message (below)....

What happened to the Leafs??

The pressure got them tonight.
The pressure of being one of the highest-paid teams, needing a long playoff run to justify it.
The pressure of having loaded up with superstars at the trade deadline.
The pressure of needing just one series victory to put Cujo's memory behind them.
The pressure of beating a team that lost in five games in the first round last year.
The pressure of living up to fans' scuttled Cup parade plans, scuttled for the 36th straight year.
The pressure of fulfilling their destiny to meet the Sens for the fourth straight year.
The pressure of the high-and-mighty Toronto media.

Sure, there will be excuses...
-Too banged up (though not as much as last year)
-The refs were out to get them (because they should never have called Belfour's tomahawk chop)
-Philly added Amonte and Yushkevich (Nolan, Housley and Wesley notwithstanding)
-The playoff format is messed up (somehow this will be brought up)

...but perhaps making excuses has finally caught up with the Buds.

Signed,
Chilling in Toronto, preparing for the next Sens round which the Leafs will be watching on TV.

Indeed, what happened??
The pressure got them tonight.
The pressure of being broke and needing a long playoff run keep the franchise in Kanata.
The pressure of being the # 1 seed.
The pressure of being the Pres. Trophy winner.
The pressure of the fans expectations.
The pressure of the media's predictions of a Stanley Cup victory.
The pressure of realizing that despite all of the above, there were still unsold tickets to last night's game.
Pressure from the very young fast and tough Isles. Enjoy them. You may
beat them in 6 or 7, but the Sens will feel like they were in car accident
when its over.
Signed,
Chilling out in Toronto, toasting our victory, hoping to see the Sens in the
conference final.
