Opening Analysis / Round 1 / Round 2 / Round 3 / Final
 |
| Brad Marchand is the top forward remaining and the one with the most picks. |
A rematch nearly 50 years in the making is a worthy storyline for the Stanley Cup finals. Boston won when they last met St. Louis in the finals in 1970, the last time the Blues were there. They have won since then, in 1972 and 2011, while the Blues have sung the blues ever since. But St. Louis rose from last place in the league on New Year's Day into the playoffs and now into the final, so it seems fitting that they should complete their improbable run by winning the rematch.
As for Lord Stanley's Pool, after climbing into first at the end of Round 2, Della Santin has built a near-unsurmountable lead and is almost certain to win the pool no matter the outcome in the final. Della has a fixed 12-point lead over David Schamma, who will fight to hold on to second against Myeongja Kim. Myeongja is one of only two poolies remaining with six players, and should be able to close the four-point deficit for second unless Tuukka Rask spins a shutout or two. It will be a longshot for anyone else to break into those top three, but Jay Dart, the other with six, and Adam Marrus could do so if Jordan Binnington can chip in a couple shutouts of his own.

Poolies picking Sharks players were congregating at the top of the standings, especially those who also picked Boston. But San Jose's elimination removes the top scorers from the mix in the final round. Brent Burns (68 picks) and Erik Karlsson (19) were the leading defensemen with 16 points each while Logan Couture (25) was the top scorer with 20 points. Tomas Hertl (16 picks) was also eliminated, tied for third among forwards with 15 points.
The top two goalies are still alive. Tuukka Rask, the most valuable pick with 22 points (12 picks), and Jordan Binnington (18 pts, 18 picks) will have a final round showdown that will have the biggest impact both in the pool and in the series. Brad Marchand is the top scorer remaining (18 points) and also the one with the most picks (69).

After a horrible 1-7 record in round 1 I picked 3-1 in round 2 and 2-0 in round 3 putting me at a surprisingly respectable 6-8 on the year. Not that they've been all that difficult in rounds 2 and 3! For the finals I'll root for the Blues to take their first Cup (finally) but I'm picking the Bruins to win it.
Here are the projected scores and rankings for after
round 4, not including the Cup winner bonus. The projection assumes (wrongly, of course) that the players you
have alive will produce in round 4 at the same average rate as in the first
three rounds. Of course, if you have no players left, you will definitely have the same score as you have now!
