Opening Analysis / Round 1 / Round 2 / Round 3 / Final
 |
| With all the major playors eliminated, Jack Eichel could be the deciding factor in determining the winner. |
There are years like these when the favourites bow out and the pool is bare by mid-May. With Edmonton (748 picks) and Toronto (286) knocked out, 88.6% of all pool picks have been eliminated - the second-highest ever and just 0.4% behind the record of 89% set in 2006.
A whopping 54% of all entries have no players left, by far the highest after round 2 in the pool's history, besting (worsting?) 2019 when 44% were wiped out at this stage.
While it seems like there's not much that can change from here, we do have some standouts that could make big climb.
Extremely deft picking put Marie Loop into the lead midway through round one, and now with three Dallas players remaining - and a locked three point lead over second-place Anthony Bruno, Marie may cruise to the finish line in a walk. But one challenger and two longshots remain. Vince Galante, who rose from 77th to 4th in round 2, has five players left including the same three Dallas players, plus Jack Eichel of Vegas and Martin Necas of Carolina. Vince will need Eichel and Necas to collect a total of 13 points to catch Marie for first, or 10 to catch Anthony for second. Angela West - with three Florida players and none from Dallas - needs to gain 17 points on Marie, while Ronald Fawnstein and Stacy Martin - with three Hurricanes and no Stars - need to gain 19.
Although he was in 235th after round 1 and currently sits in 171st, David Schamma is the only contestant who hasn't lost a player, picking three each from Florida, Vegas and Carolina. He stands to rise dramatically this round - projected to jump to 6th by round's end. Others with more than three players and their current rankings are: Joel Borgida, 6 (50th); Rob Godfrey, 4 (96th), S Ripsman, 6 (220th); Nicholas Koss, 5 (234th); Phil Victor, 6 (259th); Hugh MacPhie, 6 (287th); Colin McSweeney, 5 (325th).
Major players on their way out: McDavid, Edm, 304 picks; Draisaitl, Edm, 264; Marner, Tor, 100; Matthews, Tor, 91; Nugent-Hopkins, Edm, 81.
Dave Spedding, Jessica Thompson, Ryan Thompson, and Anthony Bruno were the hottest poolies in round two, with Dave, Jessica and Ryan rising 205 spots and Anthony collecting 45 points and maintaining second place. Here are the Hot and Not lists for round two:

Here are the projected scores and rankings for after
round 3. The projection assumes (wrongly, of course) that the players you
have alive will produce in round 3 at the same average rate as in rounds 1 and 2.
