Opening Analysis / Round 1 / Round 2 / Round 3 / Final
 |
| Leon Draisaitl had 14 points in round 2 and is the playoff scoring leader. You didn't not pick the Oilers, right? |
Four strong teams enter round 3 ready to make an impact in a tight top 60. In the East, the Cup-favourite Rangers versus Florida will jostle the leaderboard and its camps for either team.
The pool-leading trio, Pierre Allard, Mike Osburn and John Thompson, have their two-point edge thanks to their Panthers, while a large contingent with New York are there for the battle. Both teams have their backers throughout the upper standings.
Working against them, the Stars victory over Colorado puts most of the leaderboard at a disadvantage, missing three key point producers, while the Dallas crew make straight gains with every point. Noah Miller, number 15 with a bullet, is the top entry of 26 with a full card of nine players and will ride anything Dallas produces to close an 8-point gap.
The Stars also could lift Anthony Bruno, Donna Thompson, and Ryan Thompson into the conversation, especially if the Panthers also perform.
See the Round 3 Projections below to see if you are expected to rise or fall in the coming games. Of course, a shutout by any of the four goalies could throw a wrench in it all.
A lot of entries, especially in the top 25, have the same picks, and it's clogging the leaderboard with blocks of people tied. Identical entries happen now and then, but why the sudden case of same-card-itis in a year when the top players were picked fewer times?
For those who picked the Oilers and Avs, there wasn't much question who on the team they should pick and why. McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard, Makar, McKinnon and Rantanen dominate the top 6 in the player stats after two rounds and with no surprise.
Those who smartly went with an EDM-COL strategy were also wise to pick a solid team in the east. The leading trio, and other groups of three and four picked one of the eastern finalists and chose the same top players. A group of seven bravely went with the same three from Carolina. It shows yet again the solid strategies used by many in this difficult-to-win pool.
With the result of the second round, it's official: Austin Neilson will finish ahead of his dad for the fifth year in a row. Maybe next year Gareth will listen to Austin's advice to "not take those players."
Major players on their way out: MacKinnon, Col, 151 picks; Makar, Col, 133; Aho, Car, 104; Rantanen, Col, 78; Guentzel, Car, 76; Hughes, Van, 73; Pastrnak, Bos, 62.
Barry Potter and Owen Thompson led round 2 with 74 points, while Sandra Hennigar was the hottest entry, rising 137 spots. Here are the Hot and Not lists for round two:

Here are the projected scores and rankings for after
round 3. The projection assumes (wrongly, of course) that the players you
have alive will produce in round 3 at the same average rate as in rounds 1 and 2.
